The UN Department of Political Affairs released a new publication, "United Nations Conflict Prevention and Preventive Diplomacy," drafted in partnership with the Peacebuilding Support Office and the Department of Peacekeeping Operations.

On the occasion of the International Day of Peace, acting UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Ms. Pernille Dahler Kardel, today visited Adyan foundation, a non-governmental organization that promotes interreligious dialogue and inclusive citizenship. She met with Adyan Chairman Rev.
The Secretary-General welcomes the agreement reached on 17 September between President Erdogan of Turkey and President Putin of Russia to create a demilitarized buffer zone in Idlib region, which should avert a full-scale military operation and provide reprieve for millions of civilians.
Acting UN Special Coordinator Kardel meets young men and women at MARCH NGO in Tripoli
Acting UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Pernille Kardel today visited Tripoli, in north Lebanon. She met with political and religious authorities and visited MARCH, a non-government organization that is active in promoting reconciliation and empowerment among youth and former fighters.
We regret the United States’ decision to provide no further funding to UNRWA, which provides essential services to Palestine refugees and contributes to stability in the region. The US has traditionally been the largest single contributor to UNRWA. We appreciate its support over the years.
The Secretary-General is deeply concerned about the growing risks of a humanitarian catastrophe in the event of a full-scale military operation in Idlib province in Syria. The Secretary-General once again reaffirms that any use of chemical weapons is totally unacceptable.
