UNSCOL Joins UNDP in Marking 10 Years of its Youth Leadership Programme
The United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, joined UNDP in marking 10 years of its Youth Leadership Programme at a ceremony held at the campus of the Lebanese American University. Attended by over 1,000 young women and men, the event was an opportunity for Lebanon’s future leaders to present some of their ideas, initiatives and aspirations for impactful and sustainable development solutions for their country.
The Special Coordinator used the opportunity to highlight the role that the potential, vision and energy of young Lebanese women and men can play in transforming their country. “The importance of young people as key architects and custodians of their country’s future cannot be overstated anywhere in the world. And, certainly not in Lebanon – which is at a critical crossroads, with so many milestones lying ahead that are pivotal to recovery and development,” she said.
