On Saturday, May 3, 2025, UNSCOL posted the following on its X account: "Press freedom is critical. In its absence, democracy dies. Human rights wither. Journalists must be able to work without concern for their safety or lives. This is true in Lebanon, as well as in every country across the globe. We must all recommit, through our laws, policies and actions, to the protection of press freedom and those who work to advance it.

حرية الصحافة ضرورية، فمن دونها تفقد الديمقراطية معناها وتتعرض حقوق الإنسان للخطر. يجب أن يتمكن الصحفيون من أداء عملهم بأمان، دون تهديد لحياتهم أو سلامتهم، سواء في لبنان أو في أي دولة في العالم. علينا جميعًا أن نلتزم مجددًا، عبر القوانين والسياسات والإجراءات، لضمان حماية الصحافة ودعم من يسعون إلى تعزيزها.
