The raging fires in the Middle East are fast becoming an inferno.
One year since near-daily exchanges of fire commenced across the Blue Line, initiated by Hizbullah propelling rockets into Shab‘a Farms, in violation of the cessation of hostilities and Security Council resolution 1701 (2006).
The United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, this week visited shelters housing persons displaced from southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut following the sharp escalation of the conflict between Israel
Today, Israeli airstrikes hit the town of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, yet again. The Lebanese Ministry of Health has confirmed that five people have been killed in the attack, though this number may rise as rubble is cleared.
With each day that passes, the deadly cycle of violence in Lebanon expands, leaving ever more devastation and suffering in its wake.

The Secretary-General welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. He hopes that this agreement can put an end to the violence, destruction and suffering the people of both countries have been experiencing.
