United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly today strongly condemned yesterday’s attack on a Lebanese army patrol in the north-eastern area of Ras Baalbeck, which killed six soldiers and injured another.
He expressed his condolences to the families of those killed and to the people and Government of Lebanon. The Special Coordinator paid tribute to the determination and dedication shown by the Lebanese army in their efforts to maintain security and stability, and to the sacrifices as they seek to protect Lebanon. He underlined again the strength of the commitment of the United Nations and the international community to support for the Army.
