Today, United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert began a visit to Israel, where she is set to meet with senior Israeli officials.
Discussions will focus on the Cessation of Hostilities Understanding of 26 November 2024, as well as the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolution 1701 (2006).
Emphasizing the need to enhance security and stability for populations on both sides of the Blue Line, the Special Coordinator continues to call on all to prevent the establishment of a new status quo and thus to make the solutions envisaged by resolution 1701 a reality.
