UN Special Coordinator Sigrid Kaag Expresses Grave Concern over Attack on the Army in Ras Baalbek

The United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Sigrid Kaag expressed grave concern over the attack on the Lebanese army Friday in the area of Ras Baalbek, that led to the deaths of eight officers and soldiers and caused a number of injuries.

Ms. Kaag expressed her condolences to the families of the victims, to the Lebanon Armed Forces and to the Government of Lebanon and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. The Special Coordinator lauded the efforts of the Lebanese Armed Forced to protect Lebanon's borders and said that the United Nations would continue to fully support Lebanon to maintain stability and security in the country.
