The United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Sigrid Kaag, today met with the Minister of Defense Samir Moqbel and they discussed the security situation in Lebanon, with a particular focus on Lebanon’s eastern border.
The Special Coordinator praised the efforts of the Lebanese Armed Forces and security forces in their efforts to safeguard Lebanon’s security and stability from the threat posed by extremist militants. The Special Coordinator said the international community would continue to stand firmly behind the Lebanese Armed Forces and security forces. She expressed her appreciation for the countries which already provide support and encouraged further such assistance.
