UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Ms. Pernille Dahler Kardel, met this morning with President Michel Aoun and separately with Prime Minister Saad Hariri. She had met with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri last week.   

Ms. Kardel, who arrived in Lebanon last week, discussed with Lebanon’s top leaders key issues that are on the agenda of cooperation between Lebanon and the UN.  “The UN and Lebanon share a long history together. I intend to ensure that this partnership continues as we move forward together,” Ms. Kardel said.

The Special Coordinator expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome she has received from Lebanon’s leaders and underlined the continued UN support for Lebanon on crucial issues related to peace and security, stability and socio-economic development.
