United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Ms. Sigrid Kaag congratulated the Lebanese people and authorities for the successful completion of the four rounds of municipal elections held nationally.
She praised the safe environment that prevailed thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Interior and the security forces.
The Special Coordinator expressed the hope that the success of the municipal elections would contribute to breaking the political deadlock in the country, leading to the election of a President and paving the way for parliamentary elections.

هنأت المنسق الخاص للأمم المتحدة في لبنان السيدة سيغريد كاغ الشعب والسلطات اللبنانية على إنجاز الجولات الأربع للانتخابات البلدية بنجاح على الصعيد الوطني. وأثنت على المناخ الآمن الذي كان سائداً وذلك بفضل جهود وزارة الداخلية والقوى الأمنية.
كما أعربت المنسق الخاص عن أملها أن يساهم نجاح الانتخابات البلدية في كسر الجمود السياسي في البلاد، مؤدياً إلى انتخاب رئيس للجمهورية وممهداً الطريق لإجراء إنتخابات نيابية.
