On April 13, 2025, the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, posted the following on her account on X platform: I followed Lebanon’s tragic civil war from afar. Now, living in Beirut, I see frequent reminders of its devastation. But this city is also a living testament to the country's longer legacy of tolerance & coexistence. And, it is this legacy that will, I believe, endure.
