The United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly received today a delegation from the families of the eleven Lebanese kidnapped in Syria since last May. The families briefed Mr. Plumbly on their concerns, which he undertook to relay to United Nations Headquarters.

Special Coordinator Plumbly recalled the expressions of concern by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Joint Special Envoy Kofi Annan about the abduction. He stressed the importance of the release of the abductees and their safe return without further delay. The United Nations would be in contact with the Lebanese authorities and others concerned following the meeting.
