On 16 December, UN Special Coordinator Sigrid Kaag participated in the launch of the General Security code of conduct, developed in cooperation with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. Ms. Kaag hailed this development as “an important step towards increased respect for human rights and accountability”. She also stressed that “it is fundamental that the principles it outlines be translated in concrete actions, and that follow-up and accountability mechanisms are put in place for those breaching them”.
