UN Special Coordinator Sigrid Kaag met with Lebanon’s Minister of Interior and Municipalities Nohad El-Mashnouk. They discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region. SCL Kaag noted the importance of the timely conduct of elections. "Lebanon does not only serve as a model of coexistence and tolerance, but also as a model of democracy and plurality. Elections are an important step to ensure the normal functioning of the Lebanese democratic institutions,” Ms. Kaag said.
