The Secretary-General expresses his deep concern about the rapidly deteriorating socio-economic situation in Lebanon. The people of Lebanon are struggling every day with hyperinflation, acute shortages of fuel, electricity, medicine and even access to clean water.  

The Secretary-General calls on all Lebanese political leaders to urgently form an effective government of national unity that can bring immediate relief, justice and accountability to the people of Lebanon and drive an ambitious and meaningful course for reform to restore access to basic services, restore stability, promote sustainable development and inspire hope for a better future.

بيان منسوب إلى المتحدث الرسمي باسم الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة حول تدهور الوضع الاجتماعي والاقتصادي في لبنان  

 يعرب الأمين العام عن قلقه العميق إزاء تدهور الوضع الاجتماعي والاقتصادي السريع في لبنان. يعاني شعب لبنان كل يوم من تضخم مفرط ونقص حاد في الوقود والكهرباء والأدوية وحتى من عدم توفر المياه النظيفة.  

يدعو الأمين العام جميع القادة السياسيين اللبنانيين إلى تشكيل حكومة وحدة وطنية فعالة على وجه السرعة، حكومة يمكنها تقديم الإغاثة الفورية وكفالة العدالة والمساءلة لشعب لبنان وقيادة مسار إصلاح طموح وهادف لاستئناف الخدمات الأساسية واستعادة الاستقرار، وتعزيز التنمية المستدامة وبثّ الأمل في مستقبل أفضل.
