United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres today announced the appointment of Najat Rochdi of Morocco as his Deputy Special Coordinator for Lebanon, in the Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon (UNSCOL) and Resident Coordinator.  Ms. Rochdi will also serve as Humanitarian Coordinator. 

Ms. Rochdi succeeds Philippe Lazzarini of Switzerland, who completed his assignment on 31 March.  The Secretary-General is grateful for his accomplishments and wishes him continued success in his new appointment as Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). 

Ms. Rochdi brings over 20 years of experience in development and humanitarian assistance and international coordination in conflict and post-conflict areas, including through her latest assignment as Senior Adviser to the Special Envoy for Syria and Director of Peer to Peer with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Geneva.  

Prior to this, Ms. Rochdi served as Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator with the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA). Earlier, she served as Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Cameroon and Deputy Director of the Representative Office of the United Nations Development Programme in Geneva. 

Ms. Rochdi holds a doctorate in information systems from the National Institute of Statistics and of Applied Economics in Rabat and a Master’s degree in Mathematics and Fundamental Applications from the University of Paris Sud 11.  She is fluent in Arabic, English and French. 

Born in Morocco in 1961, she has four children.

الأمين العام يعين المغربية نجاة رشدي نائبة للمنسق الخاص ومنسقة مقيمة في لبنان

أعلن الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة السيد أنطونيو غوتيريش تعيين السيدة نجاة رشدي من المغرب نائبة للمنسق الخاص للأمم المتحدة في لبنان في مكتب المنسق الخاص للأمم المتحدة (UNSCOL) ومنسقة مقيمة في لبنان. كما ستشغل السيدة رشدي أيضاً منصب منسقة الشؤون الإنسانية.

وتتولى السيدة رشدي هذا المنصب خلفاً للسويسري فيليب لازاريني، الذي أكمل مهمته في 31 آذار. يعرب الأمين العام عن امتنانه لإنجازات السيد لازاريني ويتمنى له النجاح المتواصل في مهامه الجديدة بصفة مفوضاً عاماً لوكالة الأمم المتحدة لإغاثة وتشغيل اللاجئين الفلسطينيين في الشرق الأدنى (الأونروا).

وتتمتع السيدة رشدي بخبرة تفوق العشرين عاماً في مجال التنمية والمساعدة الإنسانية والتنسيق الدولي في مناطق النزاع وما بعد النزاع، بما في ذلك من خلال مهمتها الأخيرة كمستشارة أولى للمبعوث الخاص للأمم المتحدة إلى سوريا ومديرة بين الأقران في مكتب الأمم المتحدة لتنسيق الشؤون الإنسانية في جنيف (OCHA).

وكانت السيدة رشدي قد عملت سابقاً كنائبة الممثل الخاص للأمين العام وكمنسقة مقيمة ومنسقة الشؤون الإنسانية في بعثة الأمم المتحدة لحفظ السلام في جمهورية أفريقيا الوسطى (MINUSCA). في وقتٍ سابق، شغلت السيدة رشدي منصب المنسقة المقيمة ومنسقة الشؤون الإنسانية في الكاميرون بالإضافة إلى نائبة مدير المكتب التمثيلي لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي في جنيف.

وتحمل السيدة رشدي دكتوراه في المعلوماتية من المعهد الوطني للإحصاء والاقتصاد التطبيقي في الرباط، بالإضافة إلى ماجستير في الرياضيات والتطبيقات الأساسية من جامعة باريس الجنوبية 11. وهي تتقن اللغة العربية والإنجليزية والفرنسية.

ولدت في المغرب عام 1961, ولديها أربعة أولاد.
