UN Special Coordinator Joins Model UN Debates
UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Joanna Wronecka joined Lebanese students taking part in a Model United Nations simulation organized by the Lebanese American University. Sharing her experiences as a senior UN official in Lebanon and a former Ambassador at the UN Security Council, the Special Coordinator highlighted the importance of multilateral diplomacy in addressing today’s global challenges. She also highlighted the central role of the youth in charting tomorrow’s world of diplomacy, negotiations and public policy. Students from schools across Lebanon simulated Security Council, General Assembly and ECOSOC debates on worldwide issues involving conflict prevention and peacemaking, women’s empowerment, children’s rights, climate action and a series of other topics related to sustainable peace, development and human rights.
